MAN DIES AFTER DIFFICULTIES IN WATER OFF TEAN

A 44-year old man from Kent has died after after getting into difficulties in the water off the uninhabited island of Tean on Tuesday.

The St Mary’s Lifeboat was requested to launch and assist the ambulance service in stabilising and recovering an unconscious person from the island.

Also in attendance were the Cornwall Air Ambulance, the local ambulance boat Star of Life, the coastguard helicopter and the coastguard team from St Martin’s.

 

Family and friends of the man, who was staying at St Martin’s campsite, managed to pull him from the sea and administer first aid but the he was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.
