LOCALS ENCOURAGED TO REAP THEIR OWN REWARDS

Locals are encouraged to help maintain the Community Orchard at Trenoweth and share in the harvest.

Jonathan Smith from Transition Scilly told us: “The orchard is maintained by volunteers in the community. The deal is simple - help to maintain it and you can benefit from a share of the harvest.

He added: “As the crops are getting bigger every year, as the trees are growing, now is a good time to get involved.”

The orchard still has plenty of apple blossom on show and locals and visitors are also encouraged to simply wander round and enjoy the peace and tranquillity on offer.

Jonathan, who also runs Scilly Organics on St Martin’s said: “It's a lovely space that has been created and we're keen to encourage people to use it. It's open to anyone at any time, and we hope people enjoy it. We would really like it to be 'on the map' for people walking around St Mary's."
