SCILLY HEADS BACK TO FIRST WORLD WAR

Scilly is going back in time to the First World War tonight as St Mary's Theatre Club's new production welcomes its first audience.

In The Pink is a series of vignettes taken from the experiences of real-life Scillonians during the Great War, using letters, photos and anecdotes from the time.

The dress rehearsal takes place at the Town Hall at 8pm, with doors opening at 7.30pm.

The production - devised to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme - hasn't been without its mishaps. An amplifier and speakers left at the Church Hall after the One Act Play Festival have disappeared, believed to have been accidentally sold in the Charity Shop.

The Club is also unable to use the Town Hall stage, resulting in the play taking place virtually 'in the round'.

The cast of In The Pink includes Gordon Abbott, Linda Thomas, Tim Dean, Ben Barrett, Steve Douglas, Steve Sims, David Corners, Roger White, Rachael Easterbrook and many more.
