The Council of the Isles of Scilly has announced the nominations for the vacant Councillor positions on St Mary's.

There was only one nomination received, which was on behalf of Andrew Combes, a former civil servant who currently operates the Camera Obscura at Buzza Tower.

As there were fewer than three nominations there is no need for the by-election provisionally scheduled on Thursday 16th June.

Mr Combes will therefore be elected automatically as a member of the Council.

There remains two vacant seats in St Mary's and one in Bryher for which a by-election can be called at any time should two members of the electorate request it.
