SCILLY MP VOTES TO BLOCK PANAMA PAPERS INQUIRY
Derek Thomas, the MP for St Ives and the Isles of Scilly, was one of 300 Conservative MP's who rejected the Labour Party's call for an immediate inquiry into the Panama Papers scandal.
The Panama Papers are an unprecedented leak of 11.5m files from the database of the world’s fourth biggest offshore law firm, Mossack Fonseca.
The documents show the myriad ways in which the rich can exploit secretive offshore tax regimes.
Mr Thomas joined fellow Cornwall Conservatives, Steve Double (Newquay and St Austell), George Eustice (Camborne, Redruth and Hayle), Sheryll Murray (South East Cornwall) and Sarah Newton (Truro and Falmouth) in rejecting the inquiry while Scott Mann, MP for North Cornwall did not vote.
