TRIPPER BOAT 'HITS ROCK OFF ST AGNES'

The tripper boat Surprise has hit the Gilstone rock off St Agnes, unconfirmed reports suggest.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency have confirmed the vessel reported taking on water at 11:30am.

St Mary's Lifeboat and St Mary's Coastguard were called to the incident along with HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopters.

All 48 passengers were removed safely from the vessel and a salvage pump was put aboard.

Surprise is now back in St Mary's harbour having received a tow from the lifeboat.
