RECORDED CRIME ON SCILLY DOWN 15% ON LAST YEAR
There were 108 reported crimes on the Isles of Scilly last year.
The figure is a fall of almost 15% on 2015, when there were 127 recorded crimes, according to statistics just released by Devon & Cornwall Police.
The majority of crimes were vehicles offences and thefts. There were also several instances of violence and criminal damage.
Scilly was revealed to be the third safest place in the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly region, losing out to Treliske Hospital - so large that it qualifies as its own policing area - and Rural Launceston.
The three areas with the most crime were St Austell town, Newquay town and Truro Boscawen.
