The Dairy Cafe on the Strand has closed for good.

Owners Mick and Yve Peck, who took on the business in 2014, announced on social media that they have taken the decision "with extremely heavy hearts".

They had previously intended to reopen the cafe in February.

They wrote earlier this week: "The closure follows a great deal of soul searching and discussion over many weeks and although we are deeply saddened and disappointed we believe it is the right course of action.

"We'd like to thank every one of our customers, especially our 'regulars' who have become more like friends, for their support for just short of three years. We have loved every minute (almost!) of our time spent in the cafe and have many good memories to cherish."
The post went on to reveal that the Milk Round is being retained and will continue as usual as a separate business, while Mick will pursue an electrical business under the name The Dairy Electrician.

Yve told This is Scilly that the couple are "OK, just very sad about having to close the café", adding: "It was not what we had in mind to do when we first took over the business.

'We're both pretty exhausted from the stress and mixed emotions we've felt about the situation - it is a big deal, but we'll come out fighting!"
