There will be a flag raising ceremony held at 9:00am on Thursday at the Town Hall to commemorate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The Reverend Penny Prince will say a few words alongside the Chairman and Chief Executive of the Council and anyone else who would like to attend.

In line with rest of the country the main celebrations on Scilly will be centred around the Queen’s Official Birthday in June.

It was in 1908 when Edward VII, whose birthday was in November, moved the monarch’s Birthday Parade, also known as Trooping the Colour, to the summer when there was a greater likelihood of good weather.
