The future of the Active Scilly service was not discussed at today's Council meeting.

Members of the Finance & Scrutiny Committee were due to scrutinise four options for the gym at Carn Gwaval and swimming pool at Normandy, but the agenda item has now been deferred until January 26.

Committee chair Cllr Steve Sims, who made the decision yesterday, said: "I removed the Active Scilly Business Case Review from the agenda on January 10 because the business case presented lacked sufficient financial information.

"I hope that we will be able to bring this back to committee on January 26 with sufficient information to do full justice to this very valuable service, which we wish to maintain if we possibly can."

The gym and pool are currently funded by the Council but the Authority urgently needs to make budget cuts ahead of the next financial year.

It recently asked for expressions of interest from the community to operate the facilities.
