Islanders have just four days left to comment on the proposal to reduce the number of councillors on Scilly.

The public consultation for the Local Government Boundary Commission's draft recommendations closes on Friday, November 25.

If accepted, the proposals would mean there would be 12 councillors representing St Mary’s and one for each of the off-islands.

There are currently 21 councillor places - 13 for St Mary's and two for each of the off-islands.

Professor Colin Mellors, Chair of the Commission, said: “We are keen to hear local views about our proposals before we finalise them next month.

“This is your last chance to have your say before we finalise the recommendations.”

If the recommendations were followed, the new councillor numbers would be in place by the next local election in May 2017.
