St Mary's Gig Club's had 734 entries for its inaugural lottery draw last night.

Stephanie James, who lives in West Sussex, scooped the grand prize of £367, while Fiona Robson from St Mary's won the second prize of £37.

The draw took place at the Mermaid Inn and was streamed live on Facebook.

As it stands, the lottery will raise £17, 616 over the year, with £9248.40 allotted to the monthly prizes.

Some £880 (5%) will go to the community fund - which will this year make contributions to the off-island gig clubs, the Isles of Scilly Judo Club and Air Ambulance - leaving nearly £7,000 raised for the St Mary's Gig Club.

However, the lottery is still open for new entrants, and the funds - and prizes - will increase the more people take part.
