Some 744 public comments have been submitted in support of the proposed new heliport at Penzance.

Islanders and visitors were urged to show their support for the plans last week after the planning application was submitted to Cornwall Council.

The planning application, which was received by Cornwall Council on October 13, is now in its 21-day consultation period.

There have also been four objections to date.

Penzance Heliport Ltd said: "Please do help us demonstrate to the Council why this project should be given the go ahead and the difference it will make to you personally, as well as to West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

"We are asking people to make sure they seize this opportunity to support this project and send their messages of support (or concern) direct to Cornwall Council."

The easiest way to submit comments is by email to planning@cornwall.gov.uk.

Alternatively, the application can be viewed and commented on at Cornwall Council's website or messages can be sent by post at Planning, Cornwall Council, County Hall, Treyew Road, Truro, TR1 3AY.
