Islanders and visitors have been urged to show their support for the proposed new heliport by writing to Cornwall Council.

Penzance Heliport Ltd said that any comments submitted until now do not count towards the planning process and messages need to be sent direct to Cornwall now that the official 21-day consultation period has begun.

They said: "The planning application for the replacement Penzance Heliport has now been submitted to Cornwall Council. Now is the moment that matters.

"Please do help us demonstrate to the Council why this project should be given the go ahead and the difference it will make to you personally, as well as to West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

"We are asking people to make sure they seize this opportunity to support this project and send their messages of support (or concern) direct to Cornwall Council."

The easiest way to submit comments is by emailing Alternatively, the application can be viewed and commented on at Cornwall Council's website or messages can be sent by post at Planning, Cornwall Council, County Hall, Treyew Road, Truro, TR1 3AY.
