A birdwatcher from Leicester was thrilled on Wednesday night when he won the £500 rollover jackpot at the Atlantic quiz.

John Hague scooped the cash prize with the question 'The Vistula is the longest river in which European country?' after his raffle ticket was picked.

He said: "I'm absolutely blown away. It's really made my night. We've been coming here for years but I've never won. Plus I've chatted to some really nice people tonight."

John is one of a group of six birders from around the UK.

He split the winnings with his teammates and donated £20 to the Cornwall Air Ambulance.

The jackpot had rolled over for several weeks, with recent questions including 'Who wrote the book Slaughterhouse 5?' and 'Who directed Dr Strangelove?'.
