ISLANDERS INVITED TO ELDER CARE UPDATES

Islanders are invited to a community update this week to find out about the conclusions of the Council's work on elder services.

An options appraisal to examine the future of elder care services on the islands was commissioned in January.

Its recommendation - that health and care services are fully integrated - was approved at a meeting of Full Council on September 27.

The accompanying report by Aisling Hick, Senior Manager for Services to our Community, stated that 'it will be vital to go back to the community at the earliest possible stage to outline what we are trying to do', adding that Elder Care Forum events will be held as soon as possible.

Cllr Fran Grottick, Chair of Community Services, told This Is Scilly: "I do hope we can welcome as many members of our community as possible to these meetings. As the poster says this is part of a continuing conversation about the future of elder care and will contain an update on the consultation report recently completed.

'The somewhat short notice is because we wanted to take advantage of a visit by our health colleagues. We hope they will join us."

The community update meetings will be held at the Wesleyan Chapel tomorrow between 6pm and 7pm and Thursday between 11am and noon.

There will also be separate meetings with the teams at Park House and the Hospital.
