LOCALS ENCOURAGED TO 'HAVE A GO' AT MAKING MUSIC

Five Islands School will host another Community Music Weekend following the success of the first event in January and everyone is encouraged to turn up and have a go.

Music teacher Deborah Wainwright said, 'We had our first Community Music Weekend in January supported by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra who sent two musicians over to work with us.

‘We had just over 60 people turn up for the family orchestra on the Sunday afternoon and it was lovely because we had parents, grandparent, big brothers, and little sisters. So we’ll be doing that again and there are various other activities going on all through the weekend.

‘We’d really like to encourage people just to turn up and have a go. The weekend caters for all abilities and if you don’t have an instrument we can provide you with some percussion.'

The sessions are free to attend and include a music session at Park House.

The event will conclude with a male singing group at the Bishop & Wolf pub on the Sunday evening where, once again, local men are encouraged to simply turn up and have a go.

The itinerary is as follows:

Music Session at Park House: Saturday 11.00am -12 noon

Adult/Grade 4+ Creative Workshop: Saturday 2.00 - 3.00pm
