The Red Arrows made a triumphant debut on the Isles of Scilly as they lit up the sky to close the inaugural Islands’ Regatta on Monday.

With typical military precision they arrived on the scene at exactly three o’clock in close formation before performing their aerobatic manoeuvres and painting the sky with their traditional red, white and blue vapour trails.

The 25-minute display containing dynamic twists and loops thrilled onlookers at several vantage points throughout the archipelago.

Always a firm favourite wherever they appear, there was something about the island location that made this particular show stand out and it wasn’t just the people on Scilly who were lucky enough to witness the event.

Clifford Freeman, owner of St Mary’s Hall Hotel said: “The webcam was extremely busy and we received lots of lovely comments from all over the world”.
