COUNCIL SEEKS ISLANDERS'

HELP AHEAD OF BANK HOLIDAY

Islanders are asked to help clean up Porthcressa and Holgate’s Green ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend.

The Council-organised 'Porthcressa Parks & Promenades Community Summertime Cleansweep' will take place this Thursday between 4.30pm and 5pm.

Craig Dryden, the Council’s Senior Manager: Infrastructure & Planning, said: “It’s a busy and popular time of year for our visitors and residents at our parks, gardens and promenades. Let’s pull together for just 30 minutes to make sure these areas are looking at their best in time for the Islands’ Regatta.

“We will kick off at 4.30pm so that any Council staff can take part as part of the normal working day and hopefully other organisations and businesses will also join in for half an hour or so too.”

Jobs will include beach cleaning, sweeping the promenade and seating alcoves, litter picking and general tidying up. The Council will provide gloves, brooms and bin bags.
