The programme for September's Taste of Scilly festival has been released.

The new event is billed as a 'month-long, mouth-watering celebration of the very best in local food and drink from the islands'.

Programme highlights include Sunday barbecues on Porthcressa beach, a seaweed foraging walk, a hedgerow harvest, local produce tours and markets, themed quizzes, cider and ale festivals, an opportunity to fish for your supper off shore and the Tresco low-tide experience.

There will also be cookery masterclasses, including pasty-making with Rob Greenlaw at Old Town Cafe and Island Bakery's Barney McLachlan, and scones with Polreath Tea Rooms' Jason Peat.

Other events include chocolate and wine tasting, harvest festival church services and the Dairy Cafe's Iron Cupcake Challenge, which invites bakers to compete to make and decorate the best cupcakes based on the theme of 'Scilly Seas'.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will sample the Taste of Scilly Scillonian Produce Market on St Mary's quay during their visit on September 2.
