FIVE ISLANDS SCHOOL PUPILS TO GIVE BACK TO COMMUNITY

Five Islands School pupils on the Isles of Scilly are to spend next Tuesday giving back to the community by volunteering as part of 'The Big Give'.

Students may be seen gardening at Carreg Dhu, cleaning Porth Hellick beach or singing in Park House on July 26.

The Big Give is part of Healthy Schools Week, which started on Monday and runs until the end of term.

The programme also features a special selection of school dinners, some designed by pupils. The menu includes Daisy’s White Fish marinated in ginger, lime and chilli; Amelie’s Drumsticks; Jake's Butternut Bonanza; and Ryan’s Strawberry Cheesecake.

Among the many other activities are Water Safety Workshops for all students from Year 3 up provided by Active Scilly; whole school Zumba and Yoga; and the House Cup, described as "a new event for Secondary students plus YR6 - think It's a Knockout meets The Cube!"

Healthy Schools Week is based on the Five Ways to Wellbeing - Keep Learning, Keep Active, Connect, Give and Take Notice.

If anyone in the community has a volunteering project that students could help with for The Big Give on Tuesday, July 26, please contact Rachael Easterbrook at the Five Islands School on 424850 or via enquiries@fiveislands.scilly.sch.uk.
