STEAMSHIP GROUP INVEST £200,000 IN NEW FIRE ENGINE
The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group has invested £200,000 in a new state-of-the-art fire engine at Land's End airport.
The appliance, the first of its kind in the UK, was built by Rosenbauer, the largest manufacturer of fleet and equipment options to Fire & Rescue Services in the world.
Deputy airport manager Debs Stephens is quoted as telling the West Briton: "Finally seeing the new appliance in operation at Land's End Airport was an exciting day for everyone involved and is a further example of the Steamship Group's continued investment in its assets."
Rosenbauer UK MD Oliver North said: “The AT, which we’ve had the pleasure to build for Land’s End Airport, is an extremely poignant one as it completely raises the bar for what any commercial chassis airfield fire fighting appliance can be."
The airport's ten firefighters spent a week training on the new vehicle.
The Steampship Company recently purchased a new freight ship, the Mali Rose, to replace the Gry Maritha.
