Almost 20,000 cruise ship passengers are expected on the Isles of Scilly this year.

The islands will play host to 52 ships, including three in one day in July.


Magellan, Minerva and Corinthian are all due on July 12th, bringing some 1,600 passengers between them..


Magellan will also be visiting on June 9th when the Islands’ Partnership say they hope to welcome 1,300 passengers.


The cruise ship season attempts to get underway for the second time today after Marco Polo was unable to anchor on Friday April 1st.


A team of volunteer meet and greet ambassadors are set to welcome 300 German passengers on Fram, which is operated by the Norway based Hurtigruten group.


The ship, arriving from Lorient, is scheduled to arrive at around 1pm before heading for Jersey at 7pm.


The next vessel expected is the 390-capacity Astoria on April 22nd.
