The Isles of Scilly Voucher Scheme manager has said that there has never been a better time to start a new business on the islands.

The Voucher Scheme is a £1.36 million investment fund providing financial support of between £1,000 and £100,000, usually via match funding, for local businesses on the Isles of Scilly.

Manager Amy Hiron said: "If you have any ideas, big or small, we want to hear about them. You shouldn't be afraid to talk to us, whatever your idea. It's never black and white. Even if the scheme does not officially fund certain things, e.g. fishing and farming, we can always add value in those areas."

The Isles of Scilly Voucher Scheme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). On the subject of Brexit, Amy said: "We've been told it's business as usual so we're still going ahead. We do have funding in place already. To our knowledge, we are supported until December 31, 2018."

She encouraged interested parties to contact her or Voucher Scheme Engagement Officer Kirsty Graham to talk through their options, adding: "This is the best time to start a new business on Scilly. The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth Hub can help with business support and we can help with money."
